  1. It is told too that a ghost named Maura Slasher used to be heard shouting from the quay at Pallastown. “Boat ashore! Boat ashore!” in order to lure the crews of sand lighters to the quay so that she could spring on board and sink them.
    Two spirits were supposed to haunt the end of the Long Quay leading to Scilly. They were the ghosts of a doctor and sister who were drowned while returning from a ball in Charle's Fort. This was believed to happen in old times when the only road from Scilly to Kinsale was by Breakheart Hill, Feather Bed Lane and Mill Hill. The spot where the carriage was upset and the two met their death was where the stream now runs under the arch at the foot of Breakheart Hill, Feather Bed Lane and Mill Hill.
