Those rendered homeless had to seek for alternative places. Norton's who were evicted from Carrick St., rented the shop and a room in Fethard St, from Thomas Kickham(known as the Dovey), brother of Charles Kickham at £10 a year. Here they carried on the boot trade for a while.
O'Briens were bycotted by almost everyone in Mullinahone(at that time they owned the shop in Carrick St., and the post office in Chapel St.,).
