    use before ropes were made in the factory. Ropes were made out of hay and straw, one man let out the hay and another twisted it with a piece of wire. That rope was used for cocks of hay and for various other purposes. People still make them for cocks and ricks of hay and ricks of straw.
    Thatching
    Wheaten straw is the best straw for thatching. Bundles of sticks called scollops are used to keep the straw in position. There are two kinds of scollops, hazel and black - willow. Before using them they point each end, the way it will be easy to put them
