We always put thirteen eggs under a hen to hatch. It is said that it is a lucky number. We put her in a box with a bed of straw. The hen brings out the chickens at the end of three weeks.
We feed the chickens on oatenmeal with a little water on it and on eggs and breadcrumbs. When they are three weeks old we feed them on a mixture of bran and pollard and Indian meal. We give them plenty of milk to drink.
We call the hens by saying "Tiuc! Tiuc! Tiuc!"
