  1. There is a fair in Athlone every month. It is always on a different date each month. The January and September fairs are the biggest. People come from all parts to it. On the 2nd September there is a big cattle and horse fair with nothing but cattle and sheep for sale, and also horses.
    The fairs are held in the "Fair Green" just as you enter the town. It is a very large field. People come from all parts to it.
    The fair begins at six o'clock. The men always like to be there early. The night beforehand, people who come a long distance
