    the crooks on the oven. Before we got a range we always roasted chickens or turkeys in a very big pot-oven, but not the same one as they bake cakes in.
    Pancakes are made in the following way. Get a basin and sift flour into it. Mix salt with the flour. Get two or three eggs and beat them up. Mix the beaten-up eggs with new milk. Then put a hole in the flour and pour in the beaten-up eggs and new-milk gradually. Put this mixture on a greased pan and cook it until it is brown on both sides. Put butter and castor sugar on them and eat them
