    that when St. Stephen, the first martyr, was hiding from his enemies the wren hid behind a tree and flew out and betrayed him. The wren builds her nest in the centre of a bush. She builds it with a little roof on it and a hole in the side. She is the only bird that always lives in her nest. She builds it of moss and dry grass, and it is perfectly round. She lays about ten or twelve eggs of light grey colour with dark brown spots.

    The swans are big, white birds which live on water always. People say if you kill or are the means of killing a swan you will never have a day's luck. The swan
