Years ago straw boys used always visit marriage houses and amused the guests by dancing and playing musical instruments. Their dress consisted of old hats trimmed all round with plaited straw. They also used to wear a falce face. They would also carry with them a blade or a scythe or a large stick of protection.
Girls who were not successful in getting married in Scraft were always suposed to wear big pussess when that time expired.
