- (continued from previous page)put on the tongs and left there until it was baked. The yellow meal cake was made in the same way. The potato cake was made with potatoes mixed with a grain of flour. It was then put into a pan to be baked.
The Boxty Bread was made from raw potatoes which were scraped out by a scraper and mixed with milk. It was baked in a pan.
Bread was also made from wheat and corn. There was always a sign of a cross cut on the top of the cake so that it would bake well. The bread was baked on a plate made of metal or on a shallow pan. The(continues on next page)- Collector
