  1. From xmas to Lent is the period set aside for marriages. The month that is thought unlucky for marriages is May. It is said people who get married in May will not live long. People do a lot of match-making from xmas to "Strove".
    On a wedding day friends and neighbours are invited and refreshments are distributed and the wedding cake is cut by the bride and given out.
    Straw boys always visit the house where a wedding is being held. Their dress is straw and a false face. Before the leave the captain usually dances with the bride.
