In my district the farmer digs the potatoes with a spade. My father digs the potatoes and my brother picks them. When they are dug they are picked. The big ones are put into one pit and the small ones into another. Next they are covered with straw or grass and after a week or two they are covered with clay.
These are the local names given to the various kinds of potatoes; Epicure, Great Scot, Chamption and Irish Queen.
