    Marriages.

    In this place marriages are very few and far between but when the people get married at all they do so in the season of Shrove ,that is,from the seventh of January until Shrove
    Tuesday.
    In olden times runaway matches were very common but nowadays they are not so popular.On the first day of Shrove the people make pan-cakes and they put a ring into one of them and the person that eats the cake with the ring in it is said to be the first in that house to get married.
