  1. In December 1890 there was a (great) high wind. It unroofed houses of their thatch tumbled cornstacks and done great destruction. There was a very high tide. The saltwater was all over country like rain. Hay and corn that was tumbled was wet with saltwater. The high tide filled many houses with water. There was another night of big wind when the Gweebarra bridge was a building. It lifted the girders off the butmonds. The high tide went up as far as Doochary.
