- The town-land of Mullantyboyle is where I live. It is said it got its name from the Boyle's that lived there at one time. In it are some peculiar places. On John Furey's farm there is a place called the "Forth Gap". It was called this because it is believed that in a very early period there was a Fort there in which people lived in as a protectorate. It was surrounded by a deep trench thirty feet deep and on it was a draw boat which served to take the people from the fort to the mainland because this trench was full of water.
