They thried to looshen the beard, but it was as badly tangled is that they could make no hand o' it, so for fear they'd keep the little man too long laughin the girl got out a scissors, an' cut the beard, an the little man fell to the ground.
He got up, an' insthead o' thankin' the little girl for releasin' him, he stharted, ta sthamp his feet on the ground, an' ta get very angry, an' sez he to the little girl "I think ye big people are very sthupid. Ye never know how to do anything"

"There you are agin" sez he, Do you not think it was a stupid act on your part to cut my lovely beard insthed o' looshtenin it out gradually from the fork o' the three," an' he went off wit himsel, like a half plucked willy-wag-tail
