They were made of the fat of a cow.
In every home there was at least one mould.
The mould was open on top and there was a small hole in the bottom.
Moulds were usually from seven to ten inches in length.
The wick consisted of strands of yarn twisted together.
When cut the required length it was knotted at one end.
It was pulled through the hole in the bottom and fastned on top with a nail.
The fat was melted in a pot over the fire and then poured into the mould and left there for three or four days till quiet hard.
The mould was then slightly heated, the knot cut, the mould was then turned up side down and the candle fell out.
Baskets were and are made here.
The twigs are grown here and cut when ripe.
The people in olden times spun flax and wool.
Paddy the weaver who came from ? wove linen, flannel and frieze.
He lived in Glosha.
