  1. Long ago the farmers used to bring in butter, or eggs to the shopkeepers, and they would get tea, sugar or flour instead of them. The people used to open the shops at nine o'clock in the morning, and they used to close them at eight in the evening. They used to sell the things cheaper then, than now. None of the shopkeepers were allowed to keep their shops open on a Sunday.
