Half-doors.
Every house had a half-door formerly. It was very useful for keeping out the fowl and at the same time light and air could come in. They are quite common still.
Fires.
Turf was used for the fires just as nowadays. It is easily got here as there are plenty of bogs. There is a bog all around Bloommill. Sometimes during a wet season wood was used with the wet turf.
Light.
Long ago there was no light at night. The people went to bed earlier. Should it happen that the supper was not eaten before sark it was taken by the firelight.
Later lights were made from rushes. There were dired and peeled and dipped in fat. They(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
