- Long ago people began to wear boots at about the age of fourteen or fifteen. Some people never wore boots. Very few people go bare-footed nowadays even in Summer.
Boots are not made now in this district but they are repaired. There are four shoe-makers in this town- Mr. P. Mc Call, Mr. O'Reilly, Mr. M. Mc Call and Mr. Wiggins.
Their families have been shoe-makers for a few generations. There are not as many shoe-makers in this district now as there were long ago. They are not needed because most people buy ready-made boots in the shops. Long ago people made their boots out of untanned hides.
