Ar an leathanach seo
- We have four cows and we sell some of the milk and churn the rest. We churn once a week in Summer and once a fortnight in Winter.
Our churn is an old fashioned one. It is three -and - a - half feet high. The diameter of the top and of the bottom is about fifteen inches. There is no mark on the bottom or on the sides.
Mammy does the churning. If there is a lot of milk it takes about an hour and three quarters to do it. It is done by hand and the dash is always moved upwards and downwards. When the churning is being done if strangers come in they take a turn at it because it is said if they did not, they would take away the butter.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
