  1. Hidden Treasure
    15-11-1937
About three miles from the town of Belturbet are the ruins of an old monastery called Drumlane Abbey. Near the ruins is a lake.
It is said that during a war in Ireland the monks of the Abbey threw a large silver bell into the lake.
One stormy day a man was out in a boat on the lake and he hit the bell with one of the oars and the bell rang. Four weeks after- wards there were people out in boats looking for the bell, but they could never hit it again and it has never been found.
    Evelyn Donohoe,
    Derrygeeraghan, Co. Cavan.
I heard this story from Mr. Bernard O' Reilly, Derryerehan, Belturbet, Co. Cavan.
He s about seventy-five years old.
