    There was a poor man living near a gentleman. He had a little son.

He began smashing and rattling with the stick until he wakened all that were in the palace When they put on the lights and looked in and saw the boy within and the hide and horns on him they thought he was the devil They opened the doors and let him out and he ran away and there was heavy snow in it and he tracked the robbers in the snow and the hide on him to their hiding place. When the robbers saw him coming they ran away And left all the money and valuable things after them He brought them home to his father When the gentleman saw the boy he asked the father [had?] he his trade The father said I think he had fair enough The gentleman did not like that since he was living [so?]
