    in Glassan named James Murray. The people used make ropes out of straw long ago and there is a man named John Mc Hugh of Carnamaddy who can make very good ropes out of straw for putting on corn stacks.
    During the period of the penal laws the priests used say mass on the mountains or in backward places. There is a big flat stone in a field in Marblehill called Leac na Leabhar and it is said that at this stone or rock is where the priests used say mass. There is another big long rock in Cloonmass where the priests were supposed to say mass also.

  2. Long ago the people used to make candles out of talow. They used to make baskets out of sally rods. It was all wooden ploughs and wooden gates they had long ago. They had spades without heads. Charlie Mc Ginley could make a spinning wheel. They used to pull crottle off
