“I heard a story from my grandfather.”
I heard a story at home from my father. It is about a big house that was in Cooloo long ago. There was a landlord named Mr. O'Kelly living in it. He had a very big house. There were fifteen rooms in it. My house is situated near the ruins of it. Mr. Grady bought one half of his land and my father bought the remainder of it.
When Mr. O'Kelly left the big house, a woman by the name of Mrs. Donohue was taking care of it and keeping a fire in it. When Mrs. Donohue left the big house it fell. I could not ask her anything about it, because she died about two years ago.
I heard the people talking about the landlord and they said that he did not hunt anybody off the land in the time of the evictions. The big house was in the village of Cooloo. There are not any landlords around now. - Collector
