  1. We have many animals at home namely a cat, one pig, seven sheep, four calves, six cows and a horse. The cow's names are Daisy, Polly, Bunty, ,and "The Big Grey." When driving the cows and calvs we say "Go on Pruggie and Suckey." The cowhouse is very large with one door and two stands on which the cows lie. There is an iron roof on it. It is called the byre. The cows are tied on two stands, three on each stand. The are tied to stakes by the neck by means of spanchels. The spanchels are made of ropes. They are home made. I[n] most byers there is a branch of palm kept. It is said that no one should milk the cows after night or before day in morning because they are supposed to keep the quarter of the milk.
