  1. Once upon a time there lived two pal hunters who always kept the best hounds in the land. They were very dear to each other. There lived one hare on a fort which no one could capture. One of the men said that he would have a trial with her. He rose the hare from a ? of rushes. He called on his hounds but the hare was too fast for them and she entered a cave. The man followed her but when the he reached a certain point in the cage a witch changed him into a stone and she did the same with the dog. The other pal after hearing of the other's fate ran after the hare into the cave. The witch ordered him to tie his dogs. He asked her for some thing to tie them with and she gave him three strands of hair from her head. He thanked her and only pretended to tie the dogs. He threw the hair into fire. Thinking the dogs were tied the witch took her magic wand and asked the man why he
