Locally known as [?] Slacke on account of his eccentricity he bestowed favours on many of his tenants in the form of leases of their holdingsHe was generally regarded as a kind over-Lord in comparison with many of his class. He was particularly fond of horses and dogs, and they were the means of his death. His favourite horse fell a victim to the dread disease of farcy; his dog then became infected and in treating the terrible ailment, which now comes under the Contagious Diseases Act, himself succumbed to the awful diseaseIt is said him that(continues on next page)
