- Long ago there were very few schools in the country. Now a days there are plenty of schools. The schools in olden times were a lot different from the schools that are there now. There are few [?] schools now. I heard my father say that in olden times there was no schools and the master had to teach under a bush. I also heard that there was a hedge school in the townland of Sheebeg My grandfather was taught in it. That was about ninety years ago. The name of the master was James Mulvey.
