    Tim Leonard is gone but the 'megul' he wore he left to the Peelers behind him on shore.

    Tim Leonard blacksmith of Castleisland, Co. Kerry was outlawed from his native land for being "captured" by the R.I.C. with a dead hare in his possession. This incident happened about the year 1880.

    Tim Leonard is gone but the 'megul' he wore
    He left to the Peelers behind him on shore
    Confound it, impound it or send it to jail
    For phizdom no wisdom to-day will go bail.
    There wasn't, I'm sure, since the days of Queen "Liz."
    Within peelers' grasp such a prize as that phiz
    It made 'White-boys' of blacksmiths while hunting a hare
    You have it and keep it, sure, there it is there
    The man who creates by his starving and toil
    The wealth that gives steam to the Lord of the soil
    He's sure to be fined if his youngest 'Páistín,'
    At a hare passing by, was to shy his Cipín.
    Poor Thady was pale as he stood on the dock,
    For he knew that the duke and the peelers
