    When I was a boy of twenty-three, ¶ I courted a maid one age to me; ¶ Well,surely, I said, I would make her my bride, ¶ We being one age and the same day baptised

    This song was composed by Mr. Bart. Sullivan himself, about the year 1900.
    It was suggested by the home-coming from America of a certain man, who, before he left Ireland, had a little romance, but who appeared now, to be a bit snobbish.
    "The Hullabaloo."
    When I was a boy of twenty-three,
    I courted a maid one age to me;
    Well, surely, I said, I would make her my bride,
    We being one age and the same day baptised.
    Chorus.
    But ah! ha-ha! me boys beware of them
    Dear! Oh Dear! What a promise can do

    But, I being a boy of enterprise,
    I sought my fortune 'neat foreign skies
    I then returned, a "purchase" to make
    Of course not expecting to meet this oul' rake
    Chorus
    But Ah! ha-ha! sure that wasn't all of it,
    Dear! Oh Dear! My promise came through.
