  1. An Old Song (continued)

Good people of you pay attention, believe me I'm telling no lies

    (continued from previous page)
but I told him twas ayoung girl I wanted to keep me all night from the cold
He secondly asked the young girl, was she willing to become my wife
And she told him twas her sole intention to stick to me during my life.
    III
But my father he wants a large fortune of at least 500 to pay.
But Isaid twas a woman I wanted to give her bread, butter and tay.
For money it is but a folly if you have what will answer your call
And if Iwas dying in the morning the friends they would fight for it all.
    IV
So then now I'd advise every young lad to get married while they are in their prime
For tis only one man in a thousand could meet with a woman like mine.
