    The mine did not work out according to expectations and houses which were a mile away from the Barrack were damaged much more than itself. There was no loss of life only the Sergeant was pitched out of bed and landed on top of the washing stand.
    The Auxiliaries were immediately sent for and three lorries of them came from Dunmanway. After giving a display of firing in the air they ordered all the men of the place to assemble in the Barrack square just about day break on a cold wet morning and ordered them to build the Barrack wall which was knocked by the explosion the previous night.
