    Some years ago a workman was digging in Mr. Mc. Carthy's garden which is close to the Abbey. All at once his attention was drawn to a large hole which was getting bigger and bigger. Suddenly his spade fell in and disappeared. Notwithstanding all his efforts he never could recover it. It is thought that it slipped down the secret passage.
