A smith named Mike Lyons was noted as a rapid walker. On his was home from town one day he was given a drive in a car. Mike said that the horse was too slow, although the animal was quick enough for the occupants of the car. The smith getting impatient jumped out and with his long rapid strides soon left the horse behind.
This man was removed to the District Hospital on the Saturday in Congress Week and died a few weeks later aged about 75.
