- May Day is the beginning of the month of May, which is a month specially devoted to Our Blessed Lady. It is also the beginning of Summer. There are many customs and pishreógs and superstitions connected with May Day.
On May morning flaggers and flowers are put outside the doors, and the old people say that the fairies run away when they see the flowers.
