Lord Dunnalley is the oldest landlord. He is here twenty years longer than the others. Old Lord Dunnalley was a follower of Cromwell. He came over with him, not as a soldier but as a guest. When Cromwell was marching to Limerick, he stayed in Nenagh. There was a fine estate on this land and Cromwell ordered the people that were living there out of it. They went out peacfully, but when news came that Cromwell had left the town, the people put the house on fire, and Lord Dunnalley had to leave the house and live in a house at the back which before was a dog's house.
