- Not many people go around at present barefooted except some boys from places a few miles outside the town. These boys go in their bare feet both in Summer and in Winter.Clogs are only worn in the creamery, and in some of the country houses. Shoes are still made locally. Clogs were made in the district but that work is not carried on now. Shoes and clogs are mended locally. People did wear shoes, that were just made from the cow's hide, without been tanned. These shoes were similar to those which the Aran Islanders wear now.
