  1. The fairs that are held now are held in the town. Long ago there was a fair held at Casey's Cross. The poor people brought milch cows and they used only get twenty five shillings for a cow and you would get six pounds now. The horses were also sold very cheap.
    On the first of May there is a fair held in the Mines and there used be nothing at it only goats and on this account it was known as "The Puck Fair of the Mines."
    The bargain is made by clapping of hands, and this is how it is done. If the seller wanted nine pounds for the animal and the buyer said he would only give him eight
