Dan O'Connell's meeting at Frence Hill. They were so interested in Dan's speech that my great grandmother wanted to follow him to Castlebar to hear him there again, but the evening darkened so much that they were afraid, and they returned home.
They lived in a place called Creevagh about two miles sout of Ballyhearne. On their way home they passed through our present village and they counted sixty houses where there are only nine houses now. On the next day a man came in and asked them did they dig any potatoes on that day.
They said "no" that they had them dug, since the evening before.
