    were cured by a tobacco spittle, which was spat into the sufferers eyes. The cure for a cold was the juice of boiled whins and docan roots. The cure for mumps was if the person who suffered had a sponsor by his own name, the sponsor led him by the halter of a donkey to a stream. Then the sufferer would take three sips of the water. The cure for headaches was to smoke a pipe regularly.
