- In the town-land of Kilraine there was a school in Michael Herron's house. There was only one teacher in it whoes name was Fisher. He remained there until Drim-Na-Croish present school was built. At that time no Irish was taught because it was an offence if Irish was spoken. The children wrote on slates. In those days the people appreciated these schools because they had no better.
