- My grandfather Micky Cassidy had only two daughters Brigid (my mother) and Margaret. Both were schoolteachers. One evening in June in the year 1887 the two young girls were milking the cows outside the house in Drumshanbo. It was just nightfall and all the men were gone home off the log. About 200 yards south of our house is the boundary between Sunnaghleg and Drumshanlo. There is also a little stream part of the way and is called the "Ruynna Stream". Well they heard a great noise and at first they thought it was horsemen coming off the bog. They stood up to look, but they could see nothing. But they heard a great crowd of horsemen passing, and I often heard my mother saying, they could hear plainly the panting of the horses and the swish of their legs through the rushes. They got such a fright that they ran into the house and the mother and father had to come out and finish the milking. There was confirmation in Aughavas at the time and the next day Margaret who was a monitor in Corduff had to go to the chapel to teach catechism.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
