- A Hidden Treasure
9-11-1937About three miles from the town of Belturbet is Crom Castle, belonging to Lord Erne.
Beside it are the ruins of a very ancient castle which belonged to the Maguires of Fermanagh. There is a tradition that during a war the Maguires put all the money into an iron chest which they placed in a cot (the name given to a boat in this district) in the bottom of the River Erne at a part called '' The Bloody Pass''.According to a legend, no one could find this treasure until he had four white horses without one black hair. Once a man got four white horses and he put them into the river and they succeeded in catching the cot. When they were returning to the shore, the chain that held the cot broke and the cot slipped back again to where it came from.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
