    Mc Gurren who lived in Belturbet long ago was a famous mower. He could mow more than two men at a time.
    There were Sullivans and Gallaghers living in Belturbet who were great singers.
    A man named Own McCabe generally called "Lághach Oweny" who lived in Barrack Hill, was a noted step-dancer. He could dance Irish jigs, reels, and hornpipes. His wife also was a good dancer. On Sunday evenings hundreds of people used to gather on Creeny Bridge to watch Owen and his wife dancing, while some of the people on the bridge lilted for them.
