- In olden times snares were of horse hair and also from the bark of trees. Today snares for catching wild birds are made of horse hair.
The way traps were made was to dig a deep hole in the ground and cover it with rotten branches and twigs with layers of grass and leaves over all.
Into this the animal fell and was trapped until the hunts men came and killed it with a(continues on next page)
