  1. Some time ago the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared in a field near Esker, and it is said that she appears once a year in it still. Then the people of long ago erected a monument around the place she appeared. There is a well to be seen in it now, and each year people come for this precious water, and make stations of the cross around it. People brought the deaf, and dumb to the well, and when they drank this water they were cured. There was also a large flag erected in it where the people knelt, and prayed.
