- Some years ago we had a very heavy snow-storm in Ireland. It continued for four days. The snow remained on the ground for three weeks, and in some places you could see drifts after five weeks. During the storm, snow drifted to a height of seven feet, or to twelve feet. Motor cars got snow-clad, and some of them remained snow-bound from seven to ten days, and eventually had to be dug out. Some houses were pratically covered, and the inhabitants found it very difficult to get food supplies, especially those on the mountains' side. Some farmers lost large flocks of sheep, and some sheep lived through it, although they had only place to lie down.
