  1. The great famine occurred in the years '46 and '47, it was caused by the blight in the potato crop in the summer of '45 and in '46 and the people depended on the potato crop which was a failure. The population was then almost 8,000,000. About 1,000,000 are supposed to have dieppoollkkk!
