    Once upon a time there lived a man named Jack.

    Once upon a time there lived a man named Jack . Owing to his laziness, the most of his time was spent in the ashes. He never left the ashes only when a dropdown came so he said he would go to a farmer for a "bart" of straw to fix it. He went at once for the straw and brought the whole rick on his back. He thatched the house and then went to seek his fortune. He was travelling all day and at last he came to a house where he got lodgings When morning came the woman of the house called him, but he would not get up for her. She put a barrel of water outside the bed and put a goose into the barrel. Jack was naked ad the goose splashed the water up on him. Out he jumped from the bed and
