  1. If a priest was caught saying mass he would be shot. Once a priest was saying mass in some district in the parish of Lixnaw, when an English force captured him. It was in the open-air he was saying mass when they captured him. Just then when they were going to shoot him he leaped forth and jumped a chasm thirty feet wide. Since then that place is called priest's leap. That time in Ireland Bishops and priests suffered great persecution on account of not changing their religion. If they were going on any sick call they should dress like a beggar.
